Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church has been adopting public schools for the past 30 years; currently there are 52 schools that have been adopted by OCBF in Dallas, Lancaster, Cedar Hill and Duncanville Independent School Districts.

This ministry program covers K-12; elementary, middle, and high schools.

Who is The Urban Alternative?

The Urban Alternative is the national ministry of Dr. Tony Evans. He is the president of TUA as well as the senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas.

When a church, individual or non-profit organization completes the NCAASI course, how long does it generally take to implement the adoption of a public school?

Our experience is that it generally takes from 3-12 months in order to fully implement this program.

What role does the Senior Pastor/Executive Director play in this ministry?

Whether you are a church or any other non-profit organization, the leadership and involvement of the Senior Pastor\ Executive Director (or equivalent) is crucial to the implementation and success of The National Church Adopt A School Initiative.

Relationships, Relationships, Relationships. The relationship between the senior Pastor and the campus principal must be established and maintained.

What about separation of church and state?

In its 30 years of working with public schools, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church has never had a single problem with this issue. (Matthew 5:16)

Can multiple churches/organizations work with a single school?

Absolutely Yes. There can be a coalition of churches/organizations in an area that can work with a single school and/or multiples schools.

Are there enough churches in America to cover all of the public schools?

There are approximately 350,000 churches in America and there are roughly 98,000 public schools in our country.

2015 represents the 10th year that The Urban Alternative has offered this type of training.

Does Dr. Evans participate in this training conference?

Dr. Evans is only present at the Dallas trainings. For all training not hosted in Dallas, he does not participate live; he does participate via video. He delivers Part 1 of a 3 Part sermon series, “Connecting The Spiritual With The Social”. This entire sermon series is included in the material for each participant.
